Ty Long
The doink story of Ty Long in 1 chapter.
Chapter 1
Ty Long is best known as a punter. In fact, in his career, he only has 4 total games in which he filled the role of placekicker for the Chargers. In his week 1 debut (stepping in for an injured Michael Badgley), Long put up a clean sheet, going 1 for 1 on field goals and 3 for 3 on extra points. In the Chargers week 2 matchup with the Lions, Long's performance was not good enough to escape the off-kilter Lions, who ultimately responded with a Matt Stafford touchdown in the 4th quarter following back-to-back Chargers' possessions ending with missed field goals: The first of these misses grazed the outer edge of the upright, while the second missed wide.
These would be the last missed kicks of Ty Long's career in the NFL, as he went 5 for 5 on field goals and 5 for 5 on extra points over his next 2 games before suffering a plant leg injury that created an opening for Chase McLaughlin to make his own debut. While it's unlikely that Long meets any minimum attempts requirements, he finished his NFL career with 100% accuracy on point after attempts.
